We know times are tough! Especially because of *certain recent events.* While it's beyond our capabilities to end Strait-based wars, we do want to lend a helping hand where we can and ease the burden just a little.
The Apocalypse Survival Scheme gives you the opportunity to enter one or more of our three prize draws between 11 May and 30 June 2026 . The winner will receive a $50 MTA voucher to help with fuel costs - awesome right?? There will be three prize draws per library and a total of nine vouchers up for grabs. So the big question...
How do you enter? (a.k.a "How to make the fuel pump visit less depressing")
There are three types of prize draw, each with a particular challenge you'll need to complete in order to enter. You only need to do one of these tasks to enter the draw but you can complete these task as many times as you want between now and 30 June. Our advice? Enter as many draws as many times as you can!
The challenges are:
- Attend a library event or programme (this can be our regular running programmes like Tamariki Time or Book Chat, or one-off events like our Death at the Creatorium murder mystery. You'll get one entry per person per event.)
- Submit a book review of a library book to mpdc.nz/review
- Join our Banned Books Challenge and get an entry for each book completed
Entry forms will be available at your library. Reviews submitted online will automatically go into the draw so no need to worry about those! Winners will be randomly drawn on 1 July 2026 and will be contacted directly by our lovely librarians. We do love calling you with good news!!
While we can't guarantee we'll all survive the apocalypse, we can provide a little escapism in the meantime.
