Anyone can access broadband and wifi for free at our libraries thanks to the Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa.
Free access to internet is another way we can ensure all people in our community have access to important information.
The Internet is available during library opening hours. Everyone is guaranteed 30 minutes use per day, or longer if there is no one else waiting. Each library also has a wireless hotspot, available 24/7, so there is no need to queue if you come in with your laptop or wireless device.
Free broadband access is especially useful in our district as many rural families still only have dial up access. The service is popular for studies or work, as well as for social networking and keeping in touch with overseas family via email and skype.
This is a free service funded by central government and is available at many NZ public libraries.
