Christmas 2022 storytimes, sing-a-longs & concerts

The Matamata-Piako Libraries are gearing up to celebrate Christmas with music, stories and songs – and we’d love you to join us!

Each library will be hosting a special musical event to accompany their usual Christmas storytime.

Matamata Library’s Christmas event will take place on the evening of Monday 19 December, with a performance by the local brass band at 6:30pm. The storytime will take place at 7:00pm, followed by a performance from our wonderful Matamata Women’s Choir. There will also be some craft ornaments to make and an opportunity to get some fun family photos!  To help you get in the festive mood, we've got some Christmas treats to snack on and hot chocolate to keep you warm.

Over in Morrinsville, the wonderfully eclectic musical group, the Mookuleles, will be dazzling attendees with their skill on the ukulele. Their show starts at 10:30am on Tuesday 20 December, and will be followed by a Christmas storytime from one of our lovely librarians.

Finally, the Te Aroha Library will be hosting a performance by local musician Danny Boeglin, who will be playing a variety of weird and wonderful instruments to accompany the Christmas storytime. This will also take place at 10:30am on Tuesday 20 December – don’t miss out! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all.

Rather get into the spirit of things at home, try these festive reads, songs or music.
